Great gym take advantage of it being free while being a student if you find yourself still here as an alumni it is 33 a month which isn't bad & 22 for guest pass which is good. The pool, track, and locker rooms are spacious and generally kept clean for the traffic & compared to other UNT buildings of this age. The gym floor is decent only complaints are I wish the weight floor was expanded because that is what nost people go to this gym to use so there is usually a wait for any given machine or bench over there especially during peak hours. On breaks and very early mornings the weights area is pretty dead but most times its packed. I know this is a bit nit picky but not a fan of the high ceilings it makes this gym hot its good for the pool area but i wish there was a drop ceiling under the track so the ac would be closer.

Pohl Recreation Center is a combination of Institute gym, wall climbing facility, volleyball courts, and swimming pool. A small auditorium is also there inside for small events. Second floor has an indoor running track, small weights for workouts, and treadmills. Gym on the first floor is equipped with variety of equipments for exercises. Dressing room has locker facility which you can rent for long time. Also, outside the dressing room, locker facilities are available daily basis. You can take 5 $ coupon per day for using the Center or opt for 22 $ coupon per month. Protein shakes are also available inside shop to buy separately.

Facilities are nice. I quite like the pool and all the cardio machines. I don't think attendees actually clean the equipment after they use it though.

I've trained here the last 3 weeks and tried to give it a chance, but it sucks. Water fountains taste funny and are always warm. It feels like there's no air circulating through the gym. Also a shame they don't have any olympic weightlifting racks. Conflict of interest to have a turf area for functional fitness training, yet not have oly lifting racks to train on. As one of the largest universities in Texas, one would think they'd have a bigger weightlifting area to support the student population. There's 12 squat racks, but only 4 have floor rubber mats. The area near the 1 heavy bag and plyo boxes is a joke as only 2 people can train there without interfering in someone's workout. It's also difficult to train in the area when the Trainers are training the 20-member sport clubs as they take all the dumbbells and use the whole turf area anyway. Gym needs to be renovated and expanded if they're going to support rec members and sports clubs training at the same time.

Good place during the summer to get your workouts. The weight room isn't busy, and the basketball courts have enough people to play full court. Good place to go during the summer to stay consistent on your exercises.

The gym seems wonderful in concept, but if you have scheduling conflicts they will keep your money instead of reimbursing you for an unused membership. They also fail to tell you that parking is paid. As an alumni it’s disappointing but expected because it’s a university based facility and all they care about it keeping your money. If I were to utilize this gym I’d pay an additional $65 in parking alone for one month if I go every day. On top of my anual alumni contribution and membership, which again they fail to tell you at sign up and insist on keeping your hard earned money instead of simply providing a return.

It’s all good, but AC. It’s basically nonexistent unless you work behind the desk. Same with the locker rooms… can we get more fans? I’m sweating by the time I get out the shower and there are only 2 where athletes would be. None near the changing rooms. Also some of the showers do not drain. Don’t try to go past 9am, it’s so full and busy, you will get nothing done
